Relais Histò Wedding Videographer

Relais Histò sits just outside Taranto, on the shore of the Mar Piccolo, in an eighteenth-century noble building with cross vaults and white tuff-stone walls. It is a resort now, with grounds, a restaurant and a spa, but the bones of the old building are still the first thing you notice.

Andrea and Kathleen held their ceremony in the main church of Ostuni and came back here for everything that followed. That is one way to use this venue, not the only one — but it is the version I have filmed, and it shapes the day in ways worth knowing before you build your timeline.

Getting Ready On Site

Both Andrea and Kathleen got ready at Relais Histò before leaving for the church. This matters more than it sounds. It means the morning is calm and self-contained — no hotel transfers, no logistics split across two towns — and for a videographer it means the whole preparation can be covered properly without losing an hour in a car.

If you are planning here, keep the morning at the venue. It is the part of the day couples most often underestimate, and it is what gives a film its quiet opening.

If Your Ceremony Is in Ostuni, Build the Drive Into the Day

Ostuni is the white city, and its main church sits at the centre of it. From Relais Histò it is about thirty minutes by road — so roughly an hour of driving across the day, once you count the return.

That is very manageable, and it is not the part that catches people out. What catches people out is treating the journey back as spare time to be squeezed when the day runs late. It is the one hour of your wedding that cannot be compressed, because it is a fixed distance.

Build it in properly and it stops being a cost and becomes the best half hour of your film. Ostuni’s streets are narrow, bright and almost entirely white, and in the afternoon the light comes off the walls from every direction at once. There is no garden anywhere that gives you that. Give yourselves unhurried time there after the ceremony — it is the only window in the whole day when the two of you are alone somewhere that looks like that, and it is worth more than an extra half hour of aperitivo.

Aperitivo, Dinner and the Party

Back at Relais Histò the evening opens outdoors and moves in. The aperitivo is where a Puglian wedding usually loosens up, and at Andrea and Kathleen’s the guests started dancing during it — which tells you something about how the resort handles that part of the day.

Dinner is indoors, in a genuinely beautiful room, and the party carries on in the same building. Speeches sit inside the meal.

What I Look For Filming Here

The character of a Relais Histò wedding is contrast: hard white light in an old hill town in the middle of the day, warm interiors in the evening. A film made here should carry both, and the walk through Ostuni should not look like it belongs to the same hour as the room later that night — because it does not.

Andrea & Kathleen’s Wedding Film

Andrea is Italian, Kathleen is American, and their day was the kind where you could hear both countries in the room at once. I have written about it in full — the ceremony in Ostuni, the aperitivo that turned into a dance floor, and the song the groom’s sister sang live for their first dance.
