I’m Ivan Caiazza, a wedding videographer born and based on the Amalfi Coast, just a few minutes from Positano. Every year I film weddings here for couples travelling from the United States, the UK and all over the world — and after hundreds of days spent filming this coastline, I know exactly where the light falls at every hour, which terraces catch the sunset, and how to move through Positano’s stairways without ever being in the way of your day.

Most videographers arrive in Positano the morning of the wedding. I grew up with this coast. That difference shows up in your film: I know that the best golden-hour footage happens on the terraces facing the Li Galli islands, that a boat departure from Spiaggia Grande needs to be timed around the ferry schedule, and that the church bells ring on the hour — so your vows are never interrupted mid-sentence in the film.

How far in advance should we book?

For May–October weddings in Positano, 12–18 months in advance is ideal. Popular Saturdays go first — if your date is set, it’s never too early to check availability.

Do you film elopements in Positano?

Is drone footage allowed in Positano?

It depends on the venue and season. I know the local regulations — where permitted, aerial shots of the coastline make your film unforgettable.

Do you work with our wedding planner?

Always. I coordinate with your planner and photographer before and during the day — many of Italy’s top planners already know how I work.

When will we receive our film?

You’ll receive a sneak peek within three weeks of your wedding, and your full film according to the collection you choose — always edited personally by me. Also filming in Amalfi, Ravello, Tuscany, Puglia and Lake Como.

How much does a wedding videographer cost in Positano?

There is no single figure, and anyone who quotes one before asking about your day is guessing. What moves it: the hours you need, how many places the day moves through, whether the celebration runs over more than one day, and how much of the celebration you want in the finished film. Positano is at the demanding end of this coast — the town is vertical, nothing is a short walk, and a day here genuinely takes longer to cover than the same wedding in Sorrento. Send me your date and a rough outline and you will have a clear figure back.

How many hours of coverage do we need in Positano?

Ten to twelve hours for most weddings, from preparations through the first hours of the party. Positano is the town where hours disappear into movement rather than into events: there are staircases instead of streets, the hotels sit at different heights above the beach, and getting a bridal party from a room to a church to a terrace is never the five minutes it looks like on a map. If your ceremony and reception are in different parts of town, add an hour before you decide. For elopements, six to eight hours is usually enough.

What time should our Positano ceremony start for the best light?

Later than most couples first plan. Positano faces south-west but sits under Monte Comune, so the town loses direct sun earlier than the clock suggests and the light goes soft and warm well before sunset. In September that hour runs roughly from five to half past six. A ceremony at half past four or five puts the vows, the portraits and the aperitivo inside it — and it also puts you on the staircases after the worst of the day’s crowds have gone. It is the single change that most improves a Positano film, and it costs nothing.

What happens if it rains in Positano?

We film anyway, and I plan for it before the day. Rain here is usually short and heavy rather than steady, so the practical question is where you spend forty minutes — the church of Santa Maria Assunta, a covered hotel terrace, a loggia. I walk that alternative with you or your planner in advance. The light after rain on this coast, with cloud caught between the houses and the mountain, is better than anything a dry day gives you.

Do you work alone, and do you deliver the raw footage?

I work with an assistant on almost every wedding. Two people means the preparations can be covered in two places at once, the ceremony has a second angle that does not depend on where I happen to be standing, and nothing is lost while one of us is climbing a staircase behind you. I film alone only for the lighter services, such as elopements and intimate ceremonies with very few guests, or when a couple asks for it because they want as few people as possible around them on the day. And on raw footage, the finished film is the product, so it is not part of the standard delivery. If you want it, ask before the wedding and we will agree it as an addition rather than deciding afterwards. Most couples who ask this actually want the ceremony and the speeches in full, which is already part of what I deliver.
