High on a wooded hill in the Montagnola Senese, a short drive from Siena, Castello di Celsa rises above one of the most beautiful private gardens in Tuscany. Celsa is a private castle: once the gates close, the estate is entirely yours. Couples can hold an open-air ceremony on the panoramic terrace, with the Tuscan hills falling away behind them; celebrate over an aperitivo in the formal gardens; and dine under the stars in a crystal glass marquee dressed with floral chandeliers. The scale is grand, but the feeling is intimate — a whole castle shaped around one couple and their guests.

For a wedding film, that variety is a gift: the interiors for the quiet getting-ready moments, the box-hedge maze and stone gates for the portraits, the terrace for the ceremony against the valley, and the glass pavilion glowing as the evening settles in.

The ceremony terrace looks straight out over the Val di Merse — no decoration can compete with that view, so I plan the couple’s framing around it. In the late afternoon the light softens across the hills, and the whole terrace glows.

Celsa’s formal Italian garden, with its geometric box hedges and stone urns, is pure cinema from the air and from the ground. The hedge-lined avenues and the old iron gates make portrait backdrops that feel timeless — the sort of frames that make a wedding film look like a period movie.

The glass marquee & the aerials

Dinner in the crystal marquee, under chandeliers and hanging wisteria, is one of the most beautiful receptions in Tuscany to film. And because Celsa sits alone on its hill, the aerial shots — the castle, the parterre, the pool, the valley beyond — give a film its opening and its scale.
